About the Role:

The Research & Evaluation Analyst (REA) supports the design and execution of research and evaluation projects that inform program and policy decision-making. This role contributes to all phases of the evaluation and analytics process, including framing evaluation questions, preparing and analyzing data, and developing reports and visualizations.

The REA works collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and subject matter experts to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. This role is well-suited for individuals who are comfortable working with real-world data, interested in applied evaluation and analytics, and motivated to contribute to projects that improve outcomes across human services systems.

The REA plays a key supporting role on project teams, contributing to the development of analyses and deliverables while building experience across the full lifecycle of evaluation and analytics projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on a range of engagements with government, nonprofit, and philanthropic clients focused on improving outcomes and advancing equity

How You Contribute to the Team:

Evaluation & Research Support

  • Support the development of evaluation frameworks, research designs, and assessment approaches
  • Contribute to framing evaluation questions and translating them into analytic approaches
  • Conduct literature reviews and background research to inform study design and interpretation

Data Preparation & Analysis

  • Prepare, clean, and manage datasets for analysis, including working with large and complex administrative data (Least)
  • Assess data quality, identify limitations, and support efforts to improve data usability
  • Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative analyses using appropriate methods and tools
  • Contribute to the development, testing, and refinement of analytics models, including precision causal modeling, aligned with evaluation questions

Insight Generation & Reporting

  • Generate insights from data and contribute to findings reports, memos, and presentations
  • Develop data visualizations and dashboards to communicate results effectively
  • Translate analytic findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences

Use of Tools & Emerging Technologies

  • Leverage a range of analytic tools (e.g., statistical software, visualization platforms) to support analysis and reporting
  • Utilize AI-assisted tools and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency in data processing, research synthesis, and development of reporting products

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal team members, clients, and subject matter experts to understand data, context, and project goals
  • Support client engagements by contributing to deliverables and participating in working sessions
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal formats

Project Execution

  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Contribute to the timely completion of deliverables aligned with project scope and quality expectations
  • Perform other related tasks in support of project and organizational goals

Educational & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in social science, public policy, public health, data science, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in research, evaluation, or data analysis (including internships or applied research experience)

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Familiarity with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Experience working with datasets, including cleaning, organizing, and analyzing data
  • Exposure to statistical or data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, SAS, Excel, Knime)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) preferred

Evaluation & Research Skills

  • Understanding of program evaluation concepts, including measurement, indicators, and study design
  • Ability to support development of data collection tools (e.g., surveys, interview guides)
  • Interest in applied research in human services, public policy, or related fields

Approach to Work

  • Comfort working with complex, incomplete, or evolving datasets and problem definitions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with or openness to using AI tools to support research, analysis, and knowledge synthesis
Communication Skills:
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and when speaking.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and findings clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Must be able to communicate, collaborate and interact with colleagues in a remote work environment; must participate in virtual meetings, appear on camera as needed, and contribute to meeting content as required.
  • Proficiency with computer, Internet, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); experience with SharePoint and Monday.com desirable.
  • Experience with video meetings/conferencing (e.g., Zoom, Adobe, MS Teams).
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new applications.
There are multiple factors considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align with the specified role, geographic location, education as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

BCT offers a competitive total compensation package that, for this position, includes a base salary between $65,000 and $75,000 along with a generous benefits package. BCT’s benefits include partially subsidized medical, dental and vision coverage, fully vested 401k plan with company match, company paid life and disability insurance plans, paid family leave, and a generous paid time off policy.

This is a remote position located in any of the fifty United States or Washington, DC. Though we do have staff in all four time zones, BCT Partners headquarters is located on the East Coast in New Jersey. We support and encourage a strong staff community, leveraging virtual communication tools and collaborative work practices.
